Kottke tidies up, adds some ruminations.
My own observations:
1. JK’s brilliant, surely, but is there a single task that he does without tying it to some grand metaphor or theory of communication? I don’t think he can make toast without assigning it a meme. I would find that relentlessness of thought to be a pesky habit. (for the record, when I’m making my toast, I’m invariably having a fantasy about egg yolk streaming down the finished product.)
2. I think that, no matter how successful or loved your blog is, the presence of blisters on your thumbs and catching a “runner’s high” after mowing the lawn is an indication that you’re spending an unhealthy amount of time on the computer. Consider this an intervention, Kottke.
Although I like the idea that video games are about tidying up. See: Doom.
